Weddings at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Asheville

The Grand Bohemian is one of the most stylish and beautiful hotels I have been to – it is ideal for an outdoor-inspired mountain or woodland-themed wedding. The detail of the interior design is incredible, you feel as if you are coming off the slopes in Vail or the Alps into a warm mountain lodge. Situated in the heart of Asheville it boasts fine art in every detail, in keeping with the town’s claim to fame.

For weddings this would be ideal for a destination wedding weekend getaway for family and friends. With the Biltmore Estate (another beautiful wedding venue in Asheville) just a short walk away, and the fine art shops and eateries in town, any bride seeking a lodge-inspired setting without the potential for weather issues would be well-set here ~

Wedding at the Inn at Little Washington in Virginia

I was chosen by a wonderful couple from Alaska to photograph their early summer wedding at The Inn at Little Washington (renowned for Chef Patrick O’Connell’s superlative cuisine).

It was so much fun to photograph the beautiful details and the lush views at the Inn. I enjoy smaller weddings like this, interspersed with the really big ones, because it reminds me of how individual each wedding is.

The style of this wedding incorporates pastels and cool lavender hues. The wedding certificate features hand-painted flowers native to Alaska. I love photographing at The Inn at Little Washington, please reach me if you are interested in having the studio capture your wedding day there!

Wedding at Coco Sala in Washington, DC

This was an incredibly beautiful wedding (décor and people alike) on the rooftop of Coco Sala in DC. The bride chose a gorgeous red palette, and the couple had a custom chocolate sculpture made for their dessert centerpiece.

Coco Sala - known for it’s savory cuisine and fine chocolate – is a truly unique venue in the heart of DC. In addition to the luxe lounge interior, it boasts an incredible rooftop with open views of the city – a perfect backdrop for weddings and chic events.

Carl Ray did the makeup – check out his bio  and portfolio here. The couple prepared at Hotel Monaco up the street (another great venue for weddings). They then walked over to Coco Sala for pictures followed by the rooftop ceremony and a cocktail hour for close friends and family in the Coco Sala lounge.

Special note: The red satin bridesmaids’ gowns are by Carrie Mantha and her new couture company, Indira.

Wedding at Cypress Sea Cove in Malibu

One of this summer’s highlights was Chris and Beri’s wedding at Cypress Sea Cove in Malibu, California. I photographed their wedding with one of my favorite co-shooters, Mira of Creative Lifestyle Photography. In addition, I worked with an incredible team of wedding professionals at a photo-perfect location.

Chris and Beri are one of those couples who’ve amassed a group of incredible friends, and I am not surprised! The energy they put forth is genuine and deeply caring, and this showed through in all the toasts and well-wishes from their friends and family at the wedding. I met with them in the wintertime, and it seemed like it would be forever before summer would come. I was so happy to be a part of this wedding as photographer!

Beri is a very talented professional and runs her own company – West Hollywood salon Tendére Hair. It’s always a privilege working with other women professionals who run their own companies, and Beri is no exception – check out her site (and salon if you are in Los Angeles), she is really talented!

It started out cold and on the verge of stormy the day of the wedding, but not long after cocktail hour the sun broke through and there was a beautiful mist over the coastal cliffs. The whole wedding went so smoothly thanks to Donaji and her team from Event Professionals.

Cypress Sea Cove is a beautiful property on a virtual cliffside overlooking the Malibu beach and Pacific coastline. I look forward to highlighting more of the property in a separate post for those interested in seeing some additional photographs I took of the grounds, though there are a number within this post as well. They also have many pictures on their website!

Yellow Door Floral Design for Weddings

Lovely bridesmaid’s bouquet by Yellow Door Floral Design. This is from an August outdoor wedding at Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Virginia. The wedding hues were blues and lavendars, and the bouqets were so beautiful I was inspired to do a separate post.
